Twilight Tattoo at Bluemont Park - rehersal







We went biking again on the WO&D trail this past weekend. While riding past one park we stumbled across the ARMY practicing for a show they were giving later in the evening. They let us bike right up to where they were and watch the rehearsal. It included a full band, silent drill team, a mock invasion with humvees, horses and armed troops. They were showing off weapons used from the revolutionary war through now. During the mock invasion they seriously drove the humvees to within 20 feet of our bikes. I asked if we were in the way and they said just sit still where we were and we'd be fine. The girls were waving at all the troops who were dressed in all sorts of different Army attire. Arlington's neighbors at Ft. Myer (now known at Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall) is hosting a Twilight Tattoo for the community! Come pack a picnic and bring the family to this hour-long military pageant featuring The Old Guard and The U.S. Army Band "Pershing's Own." The performance provides a fast-paced journey through Army history, from Revolutionary times to your Army's involvement in current military operations. Come and experience a glimpse into American history with The U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange, The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, The Continental Color Guard, The Commander-in-Chief's Guard and The U.S. Army Drill Team.Bleacher seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, but there is plenty of space for chairs and blankets. Take metro to Ballston and walk or ride your bike down the Bluemont Junction Trail to the park.
